Acapulco, located on the Pacific coast of Mexico, is home to one of the most beautiful bays in the world. When flying was still considered glamorous, Acapulco was one of the original "jet-set" destinations, drawing celebrities from around the world to Mexico to experience the hot spot's beaches, hotels, and nightlife.
We were lucky enough to stay at Edgar’s condo. It was in a gated community named Las Brisas. We had our own driver that took us to Playa Marquez where vendors brought us every whim. The Italian ice was to die for. I stayed under the palapa—that’s paradise.
Later, we took a cruise around the bay. We toured movie stars’ homes, and landmarks from around the city. Renee and I got seasick. Renee hung over a rail. When I felt better, we went downstairs to watch the band. The band stopped playing, and had a “Who’s the sexiest couple” competition. The Mexico couple won, but the Brazilian couple should have won it. He was a balding, red speedo wearing, hairy back Brazilian. His wife was gorgeous, and a good sport. It was so much fun.
When the band started to play salsa and cumbias, Anita and I got up to dance. Maybe it was the music. Maybe it was the open bar, but we danced and danced until we noticed Rudy videotaping from the observation deck. I looked like the hippo from Fantasia.
